Buckshaw Village is a pioneering regeneration scheme on an unprecedented scale. This visionary concept from Redrow has transformed a former 400 acre ordnance factory site, owned by BAE Systems in central Lancashire, into a thriving, sustainable and village community.

One of the largest brownfield schemes of its kind throughout Europe, a masterplan was created by Redrow to transform this site by making the most of the nearby motorway and rail infrastructure and then split the development into three core parts, comprising high quality housing, with retail, community and green spaces at its centre, with larger commercial units towards the outer boundary lines.

When Redrow took over the site in 2002 one of the first challenges was clearing the derelict site ready for construction, to make way for the new homes, community facilities, new primary school, sports pitches, shops, retail space, office and commercial facilities.

Green corridors, cycle paths, walkways and open spaces were all central to the plan and are all linked together throughout the entire development, which has created a sustainable environment for people to enjoy.

Today over 3000 new quality homes have been constructed in a thriving and safe community. Hundreds of thousands of square metres of new commercial and office space has enabled over 10,000 new jobs to be created. A new railway station on site has direct links to Preston and Manchester, giving residents and workers easy and speedy access across the region.

Buckshaw Village is a huge success story and one that Redrow and its partners are incredibly proud of. It is a tribute to their vision and commitment and will be there for future generations to benefit from for years to come.
