Delivering our sustainable timber commitment

Sourcing timber from ethnically approved sources

For the last 15 years, Redrow has been promoting responsible forest management and ensuring the eradication of illegal timber products from our supply chain.

Redrow was the first UK homebuilder to achieve the WWF’s ‘Three Trees’ status in 2015 - which we have since retained, and we’re among the top 40 companies in the country using responsibly-sourced timber and paper products, which ensures there is no damage to the surrounding environment, or to native flora and fauna.

The primary certification of timber is FSC (Forest Stewardship Council) or PEFC (Programme for Endorsement of Forest Certification). These criteria protect the trees, habitats, biodiversity and the local people from corruptive dealership and landownership. In 2022, 99.98% of our timber was credibly certified to these standards - and the target is 100%.

Forests have a significant biodiversity value, providing a home to more than 50% of land dwelling animals, plants and insects (WWF). They also play an important role in regulating the global climate, through absorbing amounts of carbon from the atmosphere. Therefore, it is important we work hard to protect the world’s forests.

Best practice case study

Bespoke joinery manufacturer, RJ Parry Joinery, based in the North West, has implemented a number of processes to ensure their supply chain can be audited and are compliant with FSC and PEFC standards. In turn, this helps Redrow to achieve greater assurance around the sustainability of their materials and products.
